Not everyone will be into what you make - and that's fine.
You don't need everyone to like it. Just the right people.

It’s easy to get discouraged when you feel your friends and family aren’t into what you’re doing.
But that’s a trap, and I’ve fallen into it in the past.
However, I still see many people abandon their creative efforts because they don’t get the validation they seek when they share their work with others.
There are a couple of problems with that.
First, everyone has differing tastes. Some people like rock, others like rap, others like ambient hardcore, and others hate music completely (why, though?). So, if you’re in a bluegrass jam band, those people might not feel what you’re doing.
And that’s cool. It’s not a judgment on your bluegrass jam band; it’s just that they aren’t into that kind of music. 🎼
The other problem is that creating to get external validation is a nightmare.
Yea, it’s nice when people fuck with what you’re doing, but it’s neither necessary nor sufficient for making good art.
Right?
When I make stuff, part of the creative process involves finding people who would be into whatever I’m making. And that’s not everyone, so part of the fun is sharing, sharing, sharing, and finding new ways to share that get things seen in new places.
It’s about getting up so the right people can get into it.
In this podcast episode, I talk about how if you were to get one person out of 10,000 on this planet 🌎 to like what you’re into, that would be almost a million people.
So, happy hunting. I’m done. ✅

PPS - Speaking of stuff 90% of you won’t like, I wanted to share that Zulu is probably my new favorite band. Thanks for asking.
