- You don't make time. You take it by force.
You don't make time. You take it by force.
I get that it sounds aggro. But bear with me for a minute...
I get that it sounds a bit aggro to say that you "take time by force."
Of course, I'm being a little facetious...but I mean it.
Often, we have to make time for creativity through force of will.
But I suspect many of us have difficulty prioritizing creative work because we have so many competing responsibilities. It’s easy to let creativity slide to the back.
That’s why I recorded this episode: to talk about how we can change up the wording we use just a little so that we can give ourselves some agency.
I don’t like the idea of “finding time” for creativity or anything else that’s important to us. And I felt like the language was so pervasive and unconscious that I needed to find a wording that would jolt us awake from this passive attitude.
That shift in attitude would allow us to consistently create and share, even with the very real constraints on our time. I also go into some ways I have found to make time, even with busy schedules. I try to be actionable, so hopefully, the advice here helps some of you. It may or may not resonate with you, but it did help me write a book in between all the other things going on in life.
I’d love to know if the technique I discuss in the podcast works for you.
PS - If you have a moment, I would love to get some ratings and reviews on them podcast platforms. It really helps the podcast to spread. So if you think what I am doing would help more people, I would love that support. No pressure, though. 🖤
